Our Banking Team advises and acts for large finance organizations comprising non-bank lenders, banks and various businesses. We have expertise in syndications and participations, secured transactions and asset-based lending, in addition to various types of commercial finance, including subordinated debt, mezzanine, private equity and film financings in Canada and the United States. We are mostly recognized for our work with alternative and secured financing. We have developed excellent relations in the lending community, that enables us to be able to assist corporate clients to secure financing from the most appropriate lender.

The different kinds of financing transactions we implement for our clients consists of multi-currency loans, project financings, syndicated and cross-border loans, letter of acquisition facilities, credit facilities, venture capital financings, real estate financings and asset based lending. Our experts would structure and document bulk lease financing facilities pursuant to which lenders finance portfolios of equipment leases. We also develop the off-balance sheet financing of energy retrofits of private and public buildings. Our services include documenting and structuring on- and off- balance sheet financings consisting of conditional sale agreements, sales of receivables, equipment lease, non-rated asset securitization and leverage buyouts. We advise clients concerning the lenders' standard form documentation and lending policies and procedures.

Working closely together with our Tax team, we represent financial institutions in their offshore and domestic investment activities and provide suggestion concerning innovative risk management techniques involving financial derivatives.

Our Insolvency and Restructuring Group gives services in all areas of insolvency law to financial institutions, trade creditors, debtors, debtor-in-possession lenders, liquidators, trustees and receivers. We assist with proposals, reorganizations, receiverships, restructurings, bankruptcies, workouts, enforcements and liquidations.

Our litigators develop strategies to enhance recoveries or minimize the effect of insolvency upon the interests of stakeholders.

We assist senior and subordinated lenders, borrowers and investors with the structuring and implementation of debt workout arrangements. By offering innovative transactional advice, specifically concerning out-of-court restructurings and the sale and purchase of insolvent businesses, we are an effective addition to management teams.

The first people within the area called Red Deer, were the aboriginal tribes, including Plains Cree, Blackfoot, and Stoney. Through the late 18th century, European fur traders began to pass through the area. One of these first settlers, Reverend Leonard Gaetz, purchased and after that gave half of his 1,240 acres to the Calgary and Edmonton Railway to be able to develop a bridge over the river and town site. As a result, the very first train from Calgary to Edmonton went through Red Deer during the year 1891. Red Deer was incorporated as a town in 1901, and it developed mostly its agricultural service and distribution centre.
